What is Egg Allergy?

Egg allergy is one of the most common food allergies in babies and young children. It occurs when the immune system mistakenly identifies proteins in eggs as harmful and triggers an allergic reaction. Symptoms can vary from mild and moderate to severe, including some infants who have anaphylaxis to egg.

Recognising the symptoms of Egg Allergy

Recognising and managing egg allergy symptoms in infants is crucial for your baby’s health and development.

Babies with eczema are at an increased risk of developing an egg allergy. Additionally, having another food allergy, such as to cow’s milk, or a family history of allergies can also increase the likelihood. Reactions are usually triggered by the proteins in the egg white.
